As PECD grows and seeks new opportunities in regional and international markets, the Human Resources (HR) Division is playing a critical role in improving its competitiveness by developing the Company's human resource potential.

To better equip it to fulfill this role and meet new challenges, the Division embarked upon a Human Resource Transformation Project in 2002. This ongoing project is not only bringing about changes in the function and its users, but also transforming HR from a support organisation to an active strategic partner to businesses within PECD Construction.

The HR Transformation will allow employees to take charge of their own needs in the workplace, and their career progression. This self-empowerment will boost their sense of job ownership and independence, and subsequently increase their efficiency and productivity.

Enhanced processes will also free HR staff from routine administrative tasks and allow them to act as advisors and consultants to business units, and thus adds value to the organisation as a whole.

Knowledge management is also a priority. A comprehensive data warehouse is being built to support efficient and effective decision-making. This will capture and present, in useful form, data on employee skills and experience, competitors' developments, industry trends and opportunities, and global markets, all of which may influence PECD's future growth and success.

The HR Transformation Project also aims to boost employee performance and maintain a robust performance culture which in turn will strengthen PECD's business competitiveness. The Project will also highlight the Company's thought leadership through its continuous improvement in human capital management, and instill pride in employees for being associated with an employer of choice.
